Our last two classes have been working on collecting like terms. We had an entry quiz today:Entry Quiz Nov21.

We also had homework: Page 171 Qs 2-42 even & 43.

Changing Decimals to Fractions

Today we completed a worksheet on changing decimals to fractions. Most of the students completed it in class and handed it in already if you need a new one print it off: Changing Decimals to Fractions

Remember the shortcut for repeating decimals:

If you have 0.743 where the “43″ part is repeating,
How many digits are repeating? -> 4 & 3 are repeating, so there are 2 repeating digits
If there are 2 repeating digits we put two 9s in the denominator.
How many digits are not repeating? -> 7 is not repeating, so there is 1 non-repeating digit
If there is 1 non-repeating digit, we put one 0 in the denominator.
To find the numerator, we subtract the non-repeating part from the everything after the decimal.
In this case 743-7.
So the numerator is 736 and the denominator is 990.

0.743 (where 43 repeats) = 736/990

Today we discussed Congruent Triangles and how to decide whether or not triangles are congruent.

We used three congruency postulates:

Side-Side-Side (S.S.S.)
Side-Angle-Side (S.A.S.)
Angle-Angle-Side (A.A.S.)

The assignment was to complete Page 468 Questions 2-14 even.

Today we began Chapter 12

We had some notes:

Acute Angle – less than 90 degrees
Right Angle – equal to 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle – more than 90 degrees
Straight Angle – equal to 180 degrees
Reflex Angle – between 180 and 360 degrees

Supplementary Angles – Add to 180 degrees
Complementary Angles – Add to 90 degrees
Opposite Angles – Formed where two lines intersect. Opposite angles are straight across the intersection from one another. Opposite angles are equal.

The assignment for today was: page 450 Questions 38-62 1st column and Question 69.

Take Home Test due May 13

Today we started with an entry quiz – Page 522 Questions 4-12 even

The rest of the class was spent on a Take Home Test.

The test was Page 528 Questions 1-9 odd, 11, 12, 18, 19a, and 23. Your Take Home Test is due May 13.

Today in class we were working on changing percents to fractions, ratios, and decimals. We also did the opposite and turned fractions, ratios and decimals into percents.

The homework was to complete page 338-339, questions 3-48 (last column) and 49-59.
